Berne to Host Workshop on Keel Bone Damage in Laying Hens

SWITZERLAND - The University of Berne is hosting a workshop on layer welfare, focusing on keel bone health, at Zollikfen on 7 to 9 April 2014.

This international exploratory workshop on keel bone damage in laying hens will be held on 7 to 9 April 2014 at the Research Center for Proper Housing: Poultry and Rabbits (ZTHZ) at the Aviforum in Zollikofen, Switzerland.

Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO), and the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), the workshop will bring together over 20 leading scientists from nine countries and four continents to advance research in assessing and reducing this serious welfare problem that affects the laying hen industry.
