Hoy Digital has reported that Agriculture Minister Luis Ramon Rodriguez received notification, and he said: "We are working with the private sector to show that in the country there is no avian influenza."

He said numerous Haiti restrictions can be appeased to allow the flow of Dominican poultry.

He stressed that this would require adaptation of Dominican farms.

Private sector surveillance shows there is not low pathogenic Avian Flu or Newcastle Disease in the country and therefore trade can go ahead, the minister concluded.
