State Rural Development, Entreprenuership, Cooperative and Consumerism Committee chairman Roslee Daud said the people of Terengganu consumed an average of 300 metric tonnes of chicken daily during Ramadan and Aidilfitri, according to Bernama.

"The State Veterinary Department has given its assurance the chicken supply for Ramadan and Aidilfitri is adequate despite an expected 10 per cent hike in consumption compared to other days.

"Chicken is sold at between RM7.80 to RM8 a kilogramme on normal days. The prices proposed for a kilogramme of chicken under the price control scheme during the festive season are RM6.40 for live chicken, RM7.70 for standard chicken and RM8.50 for super chicken," he told Bernama Wednesday.

The enforcement period for the chicken price was expected to be for 17 days from 20 July to 5 August, he added.
