The EU-28 compound feed production in 2012 was 154.7 million tonnes, according to a report in Feedfacts, the publication of the European Feed Manufacturers' Federation, FEFAC.

Pig feed output fell by -1.4 per cent, whereas cattle feed increased by 2.2 per cent in 2013.

Poultry feed remained stable at +0.3 per cent, thereby confirming its position of leading segment of compound feed above pig feed.

For 2014, FEFAC experts forecast stabilisation for poultry and cattle feed production and a further reduction in pig feed production of one per cent. Overall, this would lead to a slight decrease in compound feed production in 2014 compared to 2013 of between 0.2 and 0.5 per cent.
