Agribusiness Exports Reach US$9.61 Billion in July

BRAZIL - Brazil agribusiness exports reached US$9.61 billion in July 2014, with chicken sales of US$772 million.

Products with animal origin accounted for 22.2 per cent of total exports in the month (US$2.13 billion).

Products of vegetable origin formed the majority of agribusiness exports (77.8 per cent), with the amount of US$7.48 billion.

The main export sector in July this year was the soy complex, with sales of US$3.94 billion, representing 41 per cent of total agribusiness exports. The main item was the soybeans, with trading value of US$3.15 billion. For soybean meal, sales reached US$657 million and soybean oil was responsible for revenues of US$131 million.

The meat industry was the second largest exporter in July, with the amount of US$1.66 billion.

The highlight was the sector with the chicken, with sales of US$772 million. The beef reached the figure of US$690 million and pork generated US$139 million.

Third was the sugar and alcohol exports, which accounted for US$1.05 billion.

In the last 12 months, agribusiness exports hit the mark of US$99.81 billion, maintaining exports of soybean in leadership (US$33.84 billion).

The meat sector ranks second with US$7.03 billion in sales and the sugar and alcohol in third with a figure of US$11.84 billion.
