Aviagen’s First Mobile Equipped Production Management School
US - Poultry professionals from throughout the world gathered in Huntsville, Alabama, recently for an intensive, hands-on immersion in the latest best practices in poultry management offered by Aviagen.

Attendees of the 51st Aviagen Production Management School, hosted annually by Aviagen, the world’s largest poultry breeding company, for the first time received all course materials and technical documentation on Apple® iPad Mini™ tablets issued to them by the school – making theirs the first mobile-equipped class in the school’s long history.
The experience of students at the 51st school suggests the mobilized curriculum was a success. Students reported that they could access information at any moment during the month-long program, including on weekends or during field trips. And the new mobile format makes it easier than ever for students and their colleagues to reference technical information or information on management practices as they apply them in their home countries.
The curriculum of the 51st Production Management School featured 17 field trips and workshops focusing on fertility, ventilation, gut health, feed information, and much more. The classes and hands-on sessions were led by more than 50 instructors and experts from Aviagen, providing a great tutor-to-student ratio for the 34 students.
Weekly examinations reinforced learning and retention. And by averaging exam scores, administrators were able to recognize the top three performing students of the 51st graduating class:

- Luz Patricia Urrea Botero, Avicol, Columbia
- Fernando Emilio Timo, Soychu, Argentina
"The 51st Aviagen Production Management School provided an ideal start to the second half-century of this excellent resource for up-and-coming poultry management professionals," said Mark Wright, Director of the Aviagen School.
