Much of the scientific community readily recognizes the overt clinical symptoms and performance effects; however, more recent research with lower, more commonly experienced doses have elucidated physiologic and immunologic consequences leading to different health issues and performance depression.

Therefore employing a comprehensive approach including determination of the prevalence of mycotoxins, effects of mycotoxicoses and strategies to counteract mycotoxins is imperative to improve the production efficacy.

Biomin has sponsored a symposium during this year's annual meeting of the Poultry Science Association. This symposium discussed the following topics in detail:

  • An overview of mycotoxins relevant in poultry nutrition
  • Recent data on the occurrence of mycotoxins in feed an feed ingredients
  • Update on the current and new technologies of mycotoxin analysis and discuss the relevance of masked and emerging (myco)toxins
  • The effect of mycotoxins on gut health and the immune system
  • Current research and achievements in the field of enzymatic detoxification of mycotoxins and the science behind aflatoxin binders
