Aeternus investigated the performance of suppliers in de Dutch Food & Agro sector in the period 2009-2012. The performance indicators were operating profit, productivity of labour, company growth and profitability. Jansen Poultry Equipment ended up on the 9th place out of the 65 Dutch top suppliers.

The successes of Jansen Poultry Equipment can be attributed to the innovative capacity and the high-level of knowledge about technology and poultry. The department Research and Development and poultry specialists work intensively together which improves the quality of the systems. Respond adequately to (future) developments in the poultry market and/or wishes and needs of customers is possible thanks to own manufacture facilities.

Responding to the rising need for food

According to Aeternus, the Agro & Food sector is finding itself in a growth market. The increasing world population and the increase in prosperity will result in an increasing demand of food. Suppliers in the Agro & Food sector need to develop new innovative solutions in order to meet this growth.

One of the demands of the poultry market were Jansen Poultry Equipment anticipated on was the need of a more appropriate way of growing broilers. The company developed a broiler colony housing system that not only improves the productivity, but also improves the food safety. The BroMaxx broiler housing system triples the number of chicks per m² floor area. In addition, the aspect of hygiene, and thus the animal health and welfare also plays an important role.

The liveability increases thanks to the absence of manure. The disease pressure is much lower as well as the use of antibiotics. Problems such as breast blisters and feed pad dermatitis do not occur in the BroMaxx housing system. Chicks rest and walk on a hygienic and clean surface. Also respiratory problems are significantly lower thanks to the absence of manure and therefore a better air environment.

Also for the breeder and layer sector Jansen Poultry Equipment responds to the increasing need of more efficient systems. This includes solutions such as aviary systems, rearing systems, laying nests, egg processing systems, solutions for manure drying and reduction of emission. The company will continue its effort to maintain the position as top supplier in the Agro & Food sector.
