Dutch Bird Flu Case Contained

NETHERLANDS – The site of a low pathogenic avian influenza outbreak has been cleansed and disinfected and awarded disease free status with no news of further outbreaks.

A 10,000 bird chicken unit in Bruchem, Gelderland was confirmed with H5N2 bird flu on 12 March this year.

A one-kilometre protective zone was established on 13 March, including eight other premises which were all screened.

Extent of disease spread through the flock was unknown due to missing information. All suspected infected animals were destroyed.
