The European Commission concluded with its regulation 1060/2013 that bentonite* has the potential to reduce the contamination by aflatoxin B1 of poultry, pig and ruminant feeds.

Nutriad’s Toxy-Nil and Unike brands contain bentonite that fulfill the requirements of the European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL) on aflatoxin-binding capability. This brings Nutriad in line with the latest legal recognition of scientific claims on mycotoxin deactivation.

Mycotoxin specialist, Dr Olga Averkieva, commented: “This supports the long lasting and continued efforts of Nutriad in the search for effective solutions against this permanent, mostly hidden threat. Aflatoxin B1 presence in ingredients should be a point of attention for everybody involved in the food/feed chain, as recently evidenced by aflatoxin B1 contamination incidents in the Netherlands and other countries.

Nutriad, headquartered in Belgium, delivers products and services to over 80 countries worldwide through a network of own sales offices and distributors, supported by four application laboratories and five manufacturing facilities located on three continents. Nutriad is a recognised brand in mycotoxin management, market leader in flavours and sweeteners and carries a superior range of digestive performance enhancers.

* ≥70 per cent smectite (dioctahedral montmorillonite); <10 per cent opal and feldspar; <4 per cent quartz and calcite; aflatoxin B1-binding capacity above 90per cent.
