The highly pathogenic H5N2 virus was found on two goose farms, a duck farm and a chicken farm.

These outbreaks caused over 10,000 cases out of a susceptible population of 57,888. All of the infected birds died, and the remaining birds were destroyed to prevent the disease spreading.

The farms were located in Changhua County, Nantou County and Yunlin County. These farms have been put under movement restriction, and all animals on the infected farms have been culled.

The other outbreak was of the highly pathogenic H5N8 subtype of the disease.

There were 1333 cases on a duck farm in Yunlin county, out of a susceptible population of 11,653. Again, the infected birds died and the remaining birds were destroyed.
