Layers Hit by Newcastle Disease in Israel

ISRAEL - Two flocks of layers have been destroyed in Israel following a diagnosis of Newcastle disease after the birds showed a drop in lay.

The birds were table-egg layers, aged 27 weeks and 38 weeks.

There were 40 deaths from the disease, and another 10,360 birds were destroyed to prevent the disease spreading.

The two outbreaks occurred in the Hazafon region.
