Brazil's Egg Production Increased by 6.1 Per Cent in 2015
BRAZIL - Surveys conducted by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) show that Brazilian egg production in 2015 exceeded the previous year's by 6.1 per cent.

Egg consumption in Brazil in 2015 reached 191.7 units per capita, 5.2 per cent higher than 2014's figure, which was 182 eggs.
"The intensification of the pro-consumer campaigns and the favourable outlook on the domestic market at the most affordable protein contributed to achieving this is the highest per capita consumption rate ever recorded by Brazil's egg industry," said Ricardo Santin, vice president of poultry at ABPA and president of Brazil's Egg Institute.
In 2015, housing for layers reached 91.2 million head, 2.5 per cent lower than 2014.
São Paulo is the major egg producer, with 31.77 per cent of the total poultry housing in Brazil. In second, Minas Gerais accounted for 12.24 per cent of the total.
In third place was the Espírito Santo, with 9.73 per cent. In fourth, Mato Grosso housed 6.56 per cent, and in fifth came Pernambuco, with 6.25 per cent of the national total.
