The three-day conference features 45 original scientific presentations plus more than two dozen posters on infectious bronchitis, infectious laryngotracheitis, avian mycoplasma, Newcastle disease, avian paramyxovirus and respiratory coinfections.

“Despite the poultry industry’s best efforts, respiratory disease remains a significant threat — not just to the health and welfare of the flocks in our care, but also to our ability to produce wholesome, affordable protein for consumers worldwide,” said Mark Jackwood, PhD, one of the program chairs and department head at the University of Georgia’s Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center.

“Our goal is to bring together the top respiratory disease specialists — innovators in epidemiology, virology, immunity and diagnostics — to help chart a course for more efficient, successful control strategies for poultry producers worldwide.”

This is a follow-up to the first International Avian Respiratory Disease Conference held in Athens in 2011. The 2018 conference will be held at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel.
