Egg production declines while chicken sees moderate gains in Turkey
TURKEY, 14 November 2018 - The Turkish Statistical Institute has released its findings on egg, broiler and turkey production in September 2018, reporting growth in broilers slaughtered but a slight decline in eggs producedHen egg production was 1.6 billion units.
Hen egg production decreased by 1.9 percent in September compared with the previous month, and increased by 1.1 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.
The number of slaughtered broilers was 94 million and the number of slaughtered turkeys was 557,000 units.
The number of slaughtered broilers increased by 1.7 percent in September compared with the previous month, and increased by 7.4 percent compared with the same month of the previous year. The number of slaughtered turkeys increased by 5.1 percent in September compared with the previous month, and increased by 30.7 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.
Chicken meat production was 165,953 tonnes and turkey meat production realised was 5,892 tonnes
Chicken meat production increased by 2.4 percent in September compared with the previous month, and increased by 7.1 percent compared with the same month of the previous year. Turkey meat production increased by 8.2 percent in September compared with the previous month, and increased by 30.5 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.
According to the seasonally and calendar-adjusted series, chicken meat production increased by 4.7 percent compared with the previous month. According to the calendar-adjusted series chicken meat production increased by 3.7 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.
