Netherlands reports avian influenza on organic layer farm

The Netherlands ministry of agriculture has reported  a case of avian influenza hon an organic layer farm in Biddinghuizen in the Dutch province of Flevoland.

To prevent the spread of the virus, the approximately 11,000 laying hens at the site were cleared by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). 

There are no other poultry farms within the 1 kilometer zone. There are two other poultry farms in the 3 kilometer zone. The companies are screened and sampled for avian influenza by the NVWA. There are 36 other poultry farms in the 10 kilometer zone.
