Holiday-shortened slaughter boosts domestic prices

By: Chicken meat sales held firm in April across São Paulo state, helping to sustain prices amid otherwise mixed market conditions, according to a recent market report from Cepea.
In contrast, low liquidity in southern Brazil led to price declines in that region.
National holidays during April played a key role in bolstering domestic prices by reducing slaughter days and tightening chicken meat supply.
On the export front, Brazil shipped an average of 22.9 thousand tons of in natura chicken per day over the first 17 producing days of April. While that figure is down 0.8% from March, it marks an 11% increase over the same period in April 2024, according to Secex data.
