Canada marks World Egg Day with tribute to farmers
Egg producers honoured for role in local food supply
Egg Farmers of Canada marked World Egg Day on Friday by recognising the 1,270 farm families who produce eggs across the country.
The annual event highlights the importance of eggs in healthy diets and the farmers who keep a steady supply on Canadian tables.
“World Egg Day is a special day to celebrate the nutritious and versatile egg,” said Roger Pelissero, chair of Egg Farmers of Canada and a third-generation egg farmer. “It’s a chance to recognise the dedication of Canada’s egg farmers for their ongoing commitment to producing this essential food item and strengthening our domestic food system.”
To mark the day, the organisation released a video featuring Canadian egg farmers sharing their pride in the work they do. Canadians are invited to join the celebration on social media using the hashtag #WorldEggDay.
