Agri Stats reaches deal in poultry wage lawsuit
Latest settlement follows earlier agreements totalling $398 million
Agri Stats has agreed to settle claims in a class-action lawsuit alleging wage suppression in the US poultry sector, according to a press release issued last Thursday.
The case, Jien v. Perdue Farms (No. 1:19-cv-002521, D. Md.), centres on allegations that major poultry processors shared information in ways that reduced worker compensation from 2000 to 2021. Defendants denied the claims.
Earlier this year, the court approved settlements with all other defendants totalling about $398 million. Under its separate agreement, Agri Stats will remove certain labour-related data from the benchmarking reports it provides to poultry companies. The Agri Stats settlement does not include monetary payments.
The notice was issued by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, Handley Farah & Anderson PLLC, and Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC.
