Brazil’s egg exports surge in volume and revenue - ABPA
Shipments up sharply despite lower demand from Chile
Brazilian egg exports (including all fresh and processed products) totalled 2,366 tons in October, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). The volume was 13.6% higher than the 2,083 tons shipped in the same month last year.
Revenue rose 43.4% to US$6.051 million in October, compared with US$4.219 million in the same period a year earlier.
From January to October, exports reached 36,745 tons, up 151.2% from 14,626 tons in the same period last year. Revenue for the first ten months of the year totalled US$86.883 million, an increase of 180.2% compared with US$31.012 million a year earlier.
Chile, the main destination for Brazilian egg exports, imported 578 tons in October, down 40.5% from the same month last year. Japan followed with 574 tons (+214.1%), Mexico with 328 tons (+271.1%), Ecuador with 220 tons (no prior comparison), and the United Arab Emirates with 206 tons (+372.1%).
“We saw a greater balance in the distribution of egg purchases. Although volumes to Chile declined, other destinations recorded substantial increases, which gives greater stability to the sector’s export flow,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
