Tanmiah signs MoUs to speed decarbonisation efforts
Partnerships target emissions cuts, energy efficiency gains
Tanmiah Food Company, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading vertically integrated poultry and food producers, has signed three memorandums of understanding with Schneider Electric, Strataphy and Kayes Arabia to accelerate its decarbonisation plans and improve energy efficiency across its operations, according to a company-issued press release.
The signing took place during the First Annual Saudi Agri-Food Tech Alliance Forum at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture headquarters in Riyadh, held under the patronage of Vice Minister Mansour Almushaiti. The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, researchers and innovators focused on sustainable food and agriculture in the Kingdom. Deputy Minister for Research and Innovation Abdulaziz Al Malik also attended and addressed the forum.
At the event, Tanmiah chief strategy officer Abbas Khan outlined the company’s use of IoT and AI in logistics and farming operations, along with successful trials of locally grown alternative feed ingredients aimed at reducing reliance on imports.
The agreements form part of Tanmiah’s broader commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals. Under its MoU with Schneider Electric, the company will conduct a full carbon inventory assessment and establish measurable emissions-reduction targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative, including guidance for forests, land and agriculture.
Supplier engagement and capacity-building to support supply-chain decarbonisation are also included.
Through its partnership with Saudi start-up Strataphy, Tanmiah will install geothermal cooling systems at its Shaqrah site, creating what the company says will be the region’s first geothermal-cooled poultry operation. The system will operate under Strataphy’s Cooling as a Service model.
A separate MoU with Kayes Arabia aims to convert diesel-powered equipment at farms and processing plants to liquefied petroleum gas systems to cut emissions, improve efficiency and lower operating costs.
“This represents a defining moment in Tanmiah’s sustainability journey,” said chief executive Zulfiqar Hamadani. “We are uniting technology, innovation and strategic collaboration to turn climate ambitions into real and measurable outcomes and bottom-line impact, supporting Vision 2030 and contributing to a cleaner, more efficient food production ecosystem.”
Through the new partnerships, Tanmiah says it is reinforcing its leadership in sustainable food production and its role in Saudi Arabia’s environmental transformation.
