Brazil chicken exports drop after bird flu import bans
Shipments hit lowest monthly level since 2020
Between January and April 2025, Brazil’s monthly chicken meat exports averaged 465,800 tonnes, up 10% from the same period in 2024, according to Secex data.
After the avian influenza case, shipments fell to 393,400 tonnes in May and to 343,400 tonnes in June, the lowest monthly volume since 2020.
Cepea noted that no new cases of the disease were recorded, a factor it said was crucial in Brazil’s recovery of international sales.
