Bangladesh Reports 14 HPAI Outbreaks

BANGLADESH - Fourteen new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks have been reported.

The veterinary authority in Bangladesh sent Follow Up Report No. 23 dated 2 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report covers 14 outbreaks of HPAI in Chittagong, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions. Starting between 1 and 20 February, almost 40,000 birds in total were involved in the outbreaks, 5,467 of which died and 33,982 were destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
