Print This Page Irish Shoppers face chicken, drinks rises
IRELAND - There have been warnings from two separate industry groups that shoppers could face more price increases.Irish Poultry Processors said spiralling worldwide wheat prices would lead to increases of around 15% in the price of whole and fillet chickens.
The industry group said Irish chickens were fed mainly on wheat. It said droughts and consequent poor harvests in Australia and parts of Europe had hit supply, while the increasing use of grain in green fuels was also pushing prices higher.
