Hybro shares knowledge at incubation course in Pennsylvania

NETHERLANDS - As part of its continuous investment in sharing knowledge and know-how with customers and partners worldwide, Dutch broiler breeding company Hybro B.V. organized an incubation course in cooperation with Penn State University, Pennsylvania, US.

The course that took place from February 12 – 16, 2007, was held at the Penn State University and included several lectures on a diversity of subjects such as physics, physiology, chick quality evaluation, hatchery design, bio-security and sanitation - all presented by highly experienced people from Penn State and Hybro.

“The course attracted participants - Hybro and PennState customers and partners – from Belgium, Poland, Peru, Indonesia, Brazil and the U.S.,” says Ron Meijerhof, Hybro senior technical specialist and co-organizer of the course, “and was a big success for us all.”

Besides the various lectures, the program also included practical, hands-on trainings on break out analysis, chick quality analysis, hygiene testing, vaccination procedures, machine operations and general hatching auditing.

“The winter setting of Pennsylvania provided a good atmosphere for developing the skills of the participants on incubation,” continues Meijerhof, “and general opinion told us that the course was a success, both due to the good atmosphere in the group and due to the interesting program.”

“All participants went home with a wealth of expertise and knowledge on new and existing developments in incubation. Together with Penn State we decided to repeat this course every six months.”
