Print This Page Russia places temporary ban on minced poultry from Germany
MOSCOW - Russia's food safety watchdog has imposed a temporary ban on minced poultry imports from two German enterprises, the watchdog's press office said Wednesday. The restrictions are due to salmonella bacteria, which Rosselkhoznadzor discovered in 175,635 kilograms of minced chicken imported from Germany, the press office said.
"The existence of salmonella bacteria in food products exported from the European Union to Russia is a gross violation of the requirements of veterinary certificates approved by Russia and the EU. Rosselkhoznadzor has informed the German veterinary service that it has introduced temporary restrictions for products from German enterprises DE ESG 3 and DE ESG 101 that produced the inferior products," the press office said.
