Print This Page There Is No Shortage Of Chicken In Barbados
BARBADOS - The Egg and Poultry Producers Association says there should be an adequate supply of chicken for the Christmas season, and it has rejected suggestions of a chicken shortage in the country.President of the Egg and Poultry Producers Association, Carlyle Brathwaite says they are moving to satisfy the demand of between 1.8 to 2 million kilogrammes during the yuletide period.
He says that poultry producers have increased their production to around 80 percent in the pens and will have a full stock within the next three months. Mr. Brathwaithe says that by Christmas there will be 400 kilogrammes of chicken in cold storage up from the 217 thousand kilogrammes at present.
He tells CBC News there's no shortage of chicken in Barbados, and he notes that the more than 200 thousand kgs in cold storage is being made available for distribution to retail outlets across Barbados.
