Print This Page Hungarians World Leaders In Egg Eating
HUNGARY - Hungarians, with consumption of 300 eggs per person a year, are among world leaders in egg eating, the national poultry organization in Budapest said.
Hungary, with a population of nearly 10 million, has about 13 million egg-laying hens, the Hungarian news agency MTI said Tuesday.
A Poultry Council official told reporters Hungarians enjoy eating eggs for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.
Speaking at a news conference in advance of World Egg Day Oct. 12, the official said Hungarian farmers produce 2.7 billion eggs per year worth $141 million.
World Egg Day is observed on the second Friday in October each year with promotional campaigns worldwide.
