Print This Page Unlikely Alliance Forms Over Battery Chickens
AUSTRALIA - The New South Wales Greens and the Shooters Party are forming an unlikely alliance to oppose a State Government bill on caged chicken farming.
NSW Greens MP Ian Cohen will move an upper house motion today against a new regulation that'll force the egg industry to increase cage sizes for battery hens in return for a guarantee there'll be no other major changes.
Mr Cohen says the cage increases only amount to a couple of credit cards per bird and will stop any efforts to move to barn-laid free range eggs.
