US - By the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service. This is a weekly report looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This report focuses on the egg and poultry meat situation in Argentina.
Argentina Poultry and Egg Situation
According to USDA Foreign Agricultural Service data, Argentine broiler production and exports accounted for 1.9% and 0.8%, respectively, of world totals in 2007, which was far behind the US (23.9% and 36.2%) and Brazil (15.2% and 40.4%). However, in the first half of 2008, broiler meat and egg and egg product exports increased from 2007 levels. Argentina’s domestic consumption was 1,226,000 metric tons (MT) in 2007.
