Proper Knowledge Can Reduce Poultry Losses

BANGLADESH - At a recent meeting, the importance was stressed of proper knowledge to reduce losses in the poultry sector.

Speakers at a meeting in Ranpur emphasised that proper training and knowledge could prevent the huge damages being caused by various diseases every year in the country's flourishing poultry and animal husbandry sectors, according to a report in The Nation.

They said this at the concluding ceremony of the week-long training workshop on various diseases and symptoms of the deadly diseases like bird flu in poultry birds as well as cows and goats at Mithapukur upazila parishad hallroom.

Pother Disha Sangstha (PDS), a local NGO, under the assistance of the Livestock Department organised the training workshop for 160 male and female poultry birds firm owners and participants involved with animal husbandry from all 17 UPs of Mithapukur upazila.

Director of PDS, M. Nuruzzaman, chaired the concluding ceremony that was attended by District Livestocks Officer, Dr Rowshanuzzman as the chief guest while Upazila Livestock Officer, Abu Bakar Siddique and Trainer, Motaleb Mian were special guests.

Citing the huge losses incurred by the poultry sector in the country last year due to bird flu, the speakers said that spreading of such diseases could be prevented through acquiring proper knowledge on safe managements for the poultry sector.

Similarly, lives of hundreds of cows and goats could be saved through applying the knowledge acquired from the training workshop on diseases, they said.

Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among the trainees of the workshop and also assured of all possible cooperation and assistances to all involved with rearing of the poultry birds, cows, goats and other domestic animals.
