VIET NAM - The veterinary authorities have sent a new report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding four new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
The veterinary authorities in Viet Nam have sent Follow up Report No. 28 to OIE on 22 February, covering four new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) since the previous report dated 16 February.
In total, 724 susceptible birds were involved, of which 83 were affected and 78 died. The remaining susceptible birds were destroyed. All birds were in backyard or village flocks of ducks, chickens or mixed flocks. It was noted that two of the flocks had not been vaccinated.
The outbreaks were in the provinces of Khanh Hoa in the south-east of the country, Bac Lieu in the south, and Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh in the north.
The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
