MALAYSIA - An emergency motion to debate on the Veterinary Services Department’s stand that subsidy be not provided for commercial chicken meat farmers who produce more than 20,000 chickens has been shot down by the Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker.According to The Star, Datuk Ronald Kiandee ruled that the issue was of public importance but was not urgent.
Er Tech Hwa (DAP – Bakri) who tabled the motion said half of the chicken meat producers did not receive the subsidy and many had suffered losses or were not getting any income as a result of increased production cost.
“If the Government does not address the issue, many may have to stop operations,” he said.
