Price of Broiler Chicken Up Again

MALAYSIA - The price of broiler chicken has gone up again in a matter of five days.

Citing Bernama, The New Straits Times reports that the ex-farm price has risen from RM3.30 to RM3.70 per kg; the wholesale price, from RM4 to RM4.40 per kg; and the retail price, from RM4.70 to RM5.10 per kg.

The price increases were announced in a statement yesterday by the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Association of Malaysia.

The dressed retail price with shank, head, liver and gizzard has risen from RM5.55 to RM6 per kg while the dressed retail price without shank, head, liver and gizzard has gone up from RM6.20 to RM6.70 per kg, according to the statement.

The dressed retail price without shank, head, liver and gizzard, with the Veterinary Health Mark (VHM) certificate, has also gone up from RM6.90 to RM7.40.

The statement said the new prices were based on the current demand and supply situation.

The prices of chicken were last raised on 2 April.
