Myronivska Poultry Factory in Kyiv Oblast opened its doors on 16 June to host a visit of Mariann Fischer Boel, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, according to Kyiv Post.

Ms Fischer Boel visited five poultry factories in Ukraine whose owners want to export their produce to the European Union. She inspects compliance with European standards and her decision is expected in July.

She also pledged nine million Euro of investment into agriculture-related projects in Ukraine, including a satellite system for crop forecasting and the purchase of equipment for six laboratories for testing food quality.

"Ukraine has potential to expand its agricultural sector. It's very important for it to adhere to the sanitary and veterinarian standards to have access to the European market. This is important now, when negotiations are under way to create a joint trade zone between Ukraine and the European Commission," Commissioner Fischer Boel said.
