The main goal of the poultry growers in the Cuban eastern province of Camaguey, who are working in the construction of new structures for laying hens and the assembly of a China-manufactured brooding plant, is to recoup the production levels, once achieved before two devastating hurricanes severely affected the province and particularly the sector in 2008.

Radio Cadena Agramonet reports Jacinto Torres Armenteros, director of the Poultry Company in Camaguey, saying that approximately 20 million eggs have been produced hitherto; a figure that still does not meet the demand of the family basic food basket and of the social consumption.

Aiming at reaching higher levels of egg productions, several measures have been taken in the territory, among them the enlargement of Chile Libre farm, which has nine bird houses fully operating and there will be another eight before the year ends.

Chile Libre farm will be able to supply the municipality of Camaguey with its eggs, whereas workers of the brooding plant 503 'Luis Gutiérrez', still using old-fashioned equipment began the refurbishing of its structures, where the plant made in China will be assembled.

The purpose this year of the poultry farmers in Camaguey is to produce 115 million eggs, which will exceed the production plan that they assume with same levels of efficiency.
