Bangladesh Reports One New HPAI Outbreak

BANGLADESH - Bangladesh has reported a new outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in birds.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 25 yesterday, 17 June.

The country first observed the presence of bird flu type H5N1 on 5 February 2007, and confirmed on 22 March of the same year.

According to the report, there were 332 cases of HPAI and 5621 of the birds were found susceptible. 5289 were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak is still unknown.
