Another Newcastle Disease Outbreak in Peru

PERU - An outbreak of Newcastle disease has occurred in a village flock in the north-west of the country.

The veterinary authority sent Immediate Notification dated 25 August to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes an outbreak of Newcastle disease in a flock of 25 backyard or village poultry in San Marcos village in the region of Cajamarca. Three birds were affected and two died.

There is no commercial poultry farm within a 100-kilometre radius, and the outbreak is described as 'resolved'.

The last outbreak of Newcastle disease in Peru was reported one month ago.
