Richard Percival is looking for £1.7 million for the farm he has built since getting out of dairy, according to Yorkshire Post.

Mr Percival runs Saunders House Farm at Barningham, North Yorkshire. He bought it seven years ago, after selling up a dairy farm in Cheshire, and has turned it into a free-range egg business with housing for 34,500 hens and 'woodland' cover for 16,000. Now he and his wife, Mac, want to retire, although Mrs Percival will keep up her labrador breeding.

Jonathan Wallis, who is handling the sale from the Barnard Castle office of George F. White, says: "This is the first time we have had such a well-established poultry business to sell."

Trading as Kingfisher Farms, the business sells some eggs locally under its own name but mainly supplies Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs.

The contract, and Freedom Food certification, are for sale along with farmhouse, annex, stables, four hen houses and 48 acres of grass. Call 01833 690390.
