Export Refunds for Egg Products Reduced to Zero

EU - The Single Common Market Organisation (CMO) Management Committee for animal products took a number of votes on 19th April. In each case there was a "non avis" (ie neither a qualified majority of Memebr states was in favour, nor against) which means that the Commission now has the authority to adopt the proposals.

Eggs

Given the market situation (very high prices as a result of shortage on domestic supply in particular for the processing industry), all export refunds for eggs and eggs products (egg yolks and whole eggs without shell) are reduced to zero, with the exception of the existing refunds for eggs exported in form of albumin to Asian markets which are left unchanged (at 19.0 €/100kg egg eq.).

Poultry

Markets are relatively stable. Export refunds were left unchanged (whole chicken, frozen - at 325 €/t).

Beefmeat

There was also a discussion about the management arrangements of high quality beef import quota, but no vote was taken.

Pigmeat

Markets are very stable, export volumes very stable for some processed pigmeat products (hams, sausages, etc) which are the only ones benefiting from refunds today in this sector. With refunds that represent a small part of the price on what are generally high value products, the Commission has moved to reduce these refunds on processed products to zero, as they do not play a significant economic role for these exports.
