More Newcastle Disease in Hadarom and Hazafon

ISRAEL - The Israeli veterinary authorities have reported another outbreak of Newcastle disease in Hadarom and Hazafon.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up Report No. 17 on 31 May 2012. According to the report, the affected population consists of 5-week-old meat turkeys, 5-week-old broilers and 43-week-old heavy breeders, whose eggs have been destroyed.

Out of 75300 susceptible birds, approximately 6900 cases were reported. While 1950 deaths occurred, 48550 birds were destroyed.

The source of the outbreaks remain inconclusive and the epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
