Honduras Almost Ready to Export to US
HONDURAS - In order to get high quality protein from eggs and poultry meat, the National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) and the Commission for Health Safety and the Chain Poultry (CSIC) have joined forces to achieve excellent health status.

"Now we have an improvement of 80 per cent in terms of the requirements requested by the USDA and the USDA's APHIS to export poultry products to the US," said Nidia Garcia, Coordinator of the Poultry Program (PAN).
He added that this information was confirmed by an audit conducted by PAN and all veterinary services in 2011 by Arnaldo Vaquer, consultant at USDA APHIS.
Heriberto Salinas, CEO of SENASA explained that in the past two years, the structure of the PAN has been strengthened, now present in all regions of the country in order to maintain statuses free of Newcastle disease, Avian Influenza, Avian laryngotracheitis, Salmonella Pullorum and Salmonella Gallinarum.
"We have veterinarians and its auxiliary field and civil society and as Secretary of Agriculture SAG, we have the vision to export as soon as possible to the US market," he said.
He said that the PAN has trained over 123 community leaders in the regions of Copan Ruins, Santa Cruz and Comayagua, and has signed more than 7 letters of understanding with the municipal authorities confirming the early warning system.
Meat production is currently estimated to be 302,225 pounds, and has produced 86.350 million units, and the per capita consumption per person is 40 pounds per annum.
