Russia Lifts Ban on US Turkey Meat Imports

RUSSIA - The country has lifted its ban on all imports of turkey meat from the US after receiving assurances from exporters that the birds will not have received the beta-agonist, ractopamine.

The decision by Rosselkhoznadzor to lift the restrictions on imports of turkey from the US came into effect on 24 February, according to RBTH.

Following submissions of control programmes and a visit by Russian inspectors to the US, two US companies - Jennie-O Turkey Store Sales LLC and Butterball LLC - have been excluded from the ban, Rosselkhoznadzor told Interfax.
