According to The Nation, Mr Khursand said the PPA is providing subsidy of Rs.20 per kg on chicken meat and Rs.12 per dozen on eggs on a regular basis as the Association has paid a huge sum of money to the Ramazan Bazaars vendors so far.

Mr Khursand said that the subsidy is being paid to sale centres situated in Ramzan Bazaars, saying that he was invited by the Secretary of Livestock, Dr Muhammad Aamir, Muhammad Arshad Jatt, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Food Minister Mr Bilal Yasin many times to discuss and provide subsidy in Sasta Ramzaan Bazaars throughout the Punjab.

On the request of Chief Minister Shahbaz Shareef, the PPA made a promise with the government to establish the Sasta Bazaars in collaboration with the livestock department of Punjab. Therefore, the PPA is fulfilling its deed and paying hundreds of thousands of rupees to subsidize chicken meat and eggs in Sasta Ramzan Bazaars on a weekly basis.

He added that the PPA is regularly paying subsidy to the shopkeepers. He mentioned that for the first seven days, cheques were paid in three days. He added that payment of subsidy is being made after three days of every week regularly. If shopkeepers face any problems, they must contact the office of the PPA along with weekly sales reports and their problem would be resolved within three days.

He informed that the poultry sector is one of the most organized branches of the agro-based sectors of Pakistan. The poultry sector has been serving the nation since 1962 and providing affordable poultry products to the masses to fulfill animal protein requirements. Poultry at present contributes 40 per cent of the total meat consumption and generates employment and income for about fifteen hundred thousand people.

He said that as a result of reduction in poultry and chicken rates in Ramazan Bazaars, even those districts are also benefitting where there is negligible production of poultry.
