More Avian Flu Found in Viet Nam

VIET NAM - An outbreak of H5N6 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been confirmed in Viet Nam.

There were 20 cases in a population of 20 susceptible village birds. There were 4 deaths and the other 16 animals were destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease.

The outbreak occurred in the Dak Nong province of the country.

However, another statement from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said that there had been no new outbreaks of the H5N1 strain of the disease, which has also been affecting the country recently.
