6,374 Birds Killed in Latest Viet Nam Avian Flu Outbreaks

VIET NAM - A further three outbreaks of Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) have been reported in backyard birds in Viet Nam.

The three outbreaks were reported in the North of the country in the regions of Nghe An and Lai Chau.

The H5N1 and H5N6 serotypes were recorded.

In total, of the 6,374 birds susceptible, there were 2,171 cases reported. However, all birds were killed in order to stop the spread of the disease.
