Two outbreaks were reported on farms in the Kaduna area; one in Zaia and the other in Rigasa.

In total, 7053 cases were reported in layers of various ages. However, all 35,000 birds susceptible died or were destroyed as a result of the outbreak.

Although the cause of the outbreak is not known, it is thought to be due to poor biosecurity.
