Q) Tell me why you are here at WVPAC?

A) The WVPA Congress is for us a tremendous opportunity to show our commitment with the Avian Pathologists and to meet our customers. We are presenting part of the research work our team is performing to provide value through innovation, and are glad to exchange with our clients on our booth, during breaks or even around the special symposium we organized on Tuesday evening.

As a leading company focusing on prevention we perform 7 presentations and host 8 posters related for instance to the prophylaxis and control of Marek, Newcastle & Gumboro diseases as well as on Infectious Bronchitis and Avian Influenza viruses

Q) Boehringer Ingelheim has become a new leader in the avian sector with the aquisition of Merial. Can you tell me more about it?

A) As you know Boehringer Ingelheim bought Merial in January 2017. Merial is now part of the Boehringer Ingelheim and this deal makes a lot of sense for each of us. The newly combined business makes us the second largest animal health business in the world and our complementary portfolios make our two companies a perfect fit.

Both companies are united by a passion for animals. We share a joint history of integrity quality and trust and proven records of success.

We can better offer a broader range of animal health solutions and maintain the excellent service our customers expect and can now shape the future.

Q) What are the plan for this new company? (Shall we be keeping an eye open for any new products?)

A) As Joachim Hasenmaier (Head of the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Business Unit) says “We are passionate about animal health and recognize the critical importance of serving animal health needs globally, with a special focus on prevention.”

Of course, the best way to do it is by addressing our customer needs by investing in innovation and pioneering science, by providing great customer service, maintaining the highest standards in transparency and ethics and developing long-term solutions to ensure a healthy sustainable future for animals and people.

This cannot been done without being a great place to work and attracting top talents.

Q) What impact will this move towards prevention have on the poultry sector?

A) As the poultry health market is moving from treatment to prevention strategies. This increasing trends match deeply with the DNA of our company.

Providing value through innovation is critical for the poultry industry. We are proud to be the poultry company with the largest portfolio to fight avian influenza all around the world with some key innovations just like the BEST vaccine range, to launch a brand new innovative vaccine to protect pullets against Marek disease, as well as increasing our presence worldwide with our protection concept using Vaxxitek as the cornerstone of every vaccination program.

We deploy teams and services around the globe to support our customers ensuring that vaccination processes are optimal as well as veterinary expertise to support our customers worldwide.

Together we can provide TAILORED and COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS for poultry health care today and in the future.
