UK Poultry and Poultry Meat Statistics - October 2010
By Defra. This monthly publication combines the UK Hatcheries Survey and Poultry Slaughterhouse Survey results together with other Defra statistics, and trade data. It includes data to September 2010.Key points
UK broiler chick placings were 2.3 per cent higher than September 2009 at 69 million birds and UK turkey placings were 16.3 per cent higher than September 2009 at 2.1 million birds.
UK broiler slaughterings were 1.5 per cent higher than September 2009 at 65 million birds. UK turkey slaughtering were 2.0 per cent lower than September 2009 at 1.1 million birds.
UK poultry meat production was 119,000 tonnes, 3.6 per cent higher than in September 2009.
