Section 1: UK Hatcheries Data - Placings and Eggs Set

  • UK placings of commercial broiler chicks in October 2006 were 2% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.1). Eggs set were 7% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.5).

  • UK placings of female broiler parent chicks in October 2006 were 12% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.2).

  • UK placings of turkey poults in October 2006 were 16% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.3). Eggs Set for commercial turkeys were slightly higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.6).

  • UK placings of commercial layer chicks in October 2006 were 9% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.4). Eggs set for commercial birds were 13% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.7).

Section 2: UK Trade in Live Poultry

  • Imports of commercial broiler chicks in September 2006 were 78% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.1).

  • Exports of commercial broiler chicks in September 2006 were 41% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.1).

  • Imports of turkey poults in September 2006 were 40% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.2).

  • Exports of turkey poults in September 2006 were 38% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.2).

  • Exports of live fowls in September 2006 were 100% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.3).

  • Exports of live turkeys in September 2006 were 28% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.3).

Section 3: UK Slaughterhouse Data - Numbers Slaughtered and Average Weights

  • UK slaughterings of broilers in October 2006 were 1% lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.1). At 2.21 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were slightly lower than in September 2006 (Table 3.4).

  • UK slaughterings of boiling fowls in October 2006 were 6% lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.2). At 2.15 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were 2% higher than in September 2006 (Table 3.4).

  • UK slaughterings of turkeys in October 2006 were 4% lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.3). At 15.51 kg the average liveweights of 'heavy' turkeys in England & Wales were 1% higher than in September 2006 (Table 3.4). At 6.00 kg the average liveweights of 'light' turkeys in England & Wales were 2% higher than in September 2006 (Table 3.4).

Section 4: UK Poultrymeat Production, Trade and Domestic Usage (Net of Offal)

  • Total UK poultry production in October 2006 were 1% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK broiler production in October 2006 were slightly lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK boiling fowl production in October 2006 were 6% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK turkey production in October 2006 were 10% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK other production in October 2006 were 8% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

  • Total UK imports of whole birds in September 2006 were 17% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK imports of cuts in September 2006 were 18% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK imports of poultrymeat in September 2006 were 13% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

  • Total UK exports of whole birds in September 2006 were 26% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK exports of cuts in September 2006 were 1% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK exports of poultrymeat in September 2006 were 2% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.3).

  • Total UK domestic usage of poultrymeat in Septemeber 2006 were 2% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.4).

Section 5: Other Poultry Statistics

  • UK Broiler Production of compound feed for poultry in September 2006 was 3% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 5.1

  • UK Layer Production of compound feed for poultry in September 2006 was 1% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 5.1)

  • UK Production of compound feed for poultry in September 2006 was 2% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 5.1).

  • The Chicken Fresh Price Index for October 2006 was 8% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 5.2).

  • The Poultry Price Index for October 2006 was 2% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 5.2).
